Policy Workshops
The purpose of these workshops is to promote respectful and open engagement on contemporary economic policy issues within a small group of influential policy researchers and under Chatham House rules.
We have hosted two such workshop: the first introductory workshop took place in November 2012, and was aimed at introducing the project to senior policy-makers and other stakeholders, and to identify possible policy gaps which could be addressed through the Project’s research programme.
The second took place almost a year later, in October 2013 and started with the presentation of some of the project’s recent research: a comparison and contrasting of the post-apartheid record on the distribution of income, assets and multidimensional well-being, as well as presentation on labour market earnings and employment dynamics over this period. Meaningful discussion that explored the implications of this work for promoting inclusive growth within the contemporary policy matrix, followed.
